Alliance Staff
The SC Cancer Alliance is managed by a full-time executive director who reports directly to the board of directors. Alliance staff is based in Columbia, South Carolina.
Henry Well, Executive Director
Henry has extensive experience in the nonprofit arena. For more than 15 years, he served in senior management roles with the National Kidney Foundation and the American Cancer Society. In his current position at the SC Cancer Alliance, he oversees the planning, organizing, and execution of Alliance initiatives. More specifically, his responsibilities include the development of the state cancer plan, public and patient education, marketing and communications, and managing the administrative needs of the organization.
Morgan Rabon, Executive Assistant and Communications
Morgan joined the Alliance in 2016 and is the Executive Assistant. She has fifteen years of experience coordinating marketing and communication efforts and program management for various medical, university, and nonprofit organizations. She is a Clemson University alumni with a Degree in Marketing. Morgan enjoys the creative nature of her position, where she can develop digital and printed materials that highlight the exceptional work of the Alliance's committed partners, measurable advancements of the State Cancer Plan, and promote cancer screenings and life-saving information. As a native of South Carolina, she is honored to work for an organization focused on saving lives and reducing the impact of cancer at the community level.
Averi Ellenburg, MPH, Program Manager
Averi is one of the Program Managers for the Alliance and has four years of experience working in the public health field. In her current position with the SC Cancer Alliance, she works with the Women's Cancer Initiative to improve breast and cervical cancer screening rates throughout the state and assists with the execution of educational events. Averi is a South Carolina native and is passionate about ensuring everyone in the state has access to the cancer screenings they need.
Dillon Lay, Program Manager
Dillon Lay joined the South Carolina Cancer Alliance with experience in the public health field and a master's degree in health promotion from the University of Kentucky. As a member of the South Carolina Cancer Alliance, Dillon is dedicated to serving communities and building relationships throughout the state through his work with the Men's Cancer Initiative. With a passion for cancer prevention, he will work alongside communities to reduce the impact of cancer in South Carolina.
Brenda Thorpe, Senior Community Engagement Director
Brenda is the Senior Community Engagement Director for the Alliance. She has a wealth of knowledge of community health improvement planning and development, coalition development, facilitation, community engagement, and relationship building. Brenda is honored to be a part of the SC Cancer Alliance team because she believes they are making an impact that can be felt and seen across South Carolina. Sheila Squire, Community Engagement Director
Sheila, our Community Engagement Director, is responsible for implementing the recommendations in the Data Brief: Cancer Mortality in African American Men in South Carolina: Lung, Prostate, and Colorectal Cancer (2021). Sheila will manage programs in Chesterfield, Darlington, and Marlboro Counties. She has been a volunteer with the Alliance for many years. Click here for her bio.
